Timber  Cooling Tower:

Wooden Counter Flow & Cross flow cooling tower. In wooden counter flow all structural support and post are wooden fill portion may be used by wooden splash bar Or PVC Fill pack block.Cross flow towers utilize a distinctly different type of water distribution system. Hot water is distributed to the fill by gravity through metering orifices in the floor of the inlet basin. There is no pressure spray distribution system. The air movement is horizontally through the fill, across the downward fall of the water. In crossflow towers, the internal pressure component of pump head is insignificant because maximum flow is achieved by gravity.

In These Segment  Timber Cooling Tower are of two types:

  1. SINGLE FLOW
  2. DOUBLE FLOW

Counter Flow: Counterflow towers use a high pressure spray nozzle hot water distribution system to achieve water coverage of the fill. The nozzle spray pattern is sensitive to changes in water flow, and consequent change in nozzle pressure. The air movement is vertically upward through the fill, counter to the downward fall of the water. Counterflow towers typically have a smaller footprint than crossflow owers, but require additional height, static lift, and dynamic head to achieve the same cooling effect.

 Used Material And Other Details:

STRUCTURE: M.S. Hot dip galvanized angles, flats, tees etc. are bolted to form a strong structure. Structure  of Pultruded FRP are optionally available for F.R.P cooling tower

Chemically treated pinewood columns,  chords, diagonals etc. are bolted to form a   rigid structure.  Slots are accurately machined   on vertical columns to hold louvers at   proper angles for timber cooling tower.

LOUVRE: Moulded FRP louvers are fitted with vertical   columns and each other by bolt, nut & washers for frp. Chemically treated pinewood louvers are slip  fit into the grooves of vertical posts for timber.

 BASIN: Basin is of Moulded FRP.  The basin has internal   brackets for fixing structure & external brackets to  fix it with RCC/ Brick pads using foundation bolts for frp. The basin floor is of Marine plywood as per  (IS-710) or treated timber.  Bottom support &  side planks of basin are of treated pinewood. Sealing compound is used for preventing any   leakage.  FRP basin is also optionally available for timber .

Crossflow is a design in which the air flow is directed perpendicular to the water flow (see diagram below). Air flow enters one or more vertical faces of the cooling tower to meet the fill material. Water flows (perpendicular to the air) through the fill by gravity. The air continues through the fill and thus past the water flow into an open plenum area. A distribution or hot water basin consisting of a deep pan with holes or nozzles in the bottom is utilized in a crossflow tower. Gravity distributes the water through the nozzles uniformly across the fill material.

The water spraying device is rotatably held by a vertical hollow shaft through which the water is fed.

The heat exchanging unit placed in the rectangular-shaped casing body. In this cooling tower, although the water is sufficiently sprayed onto the portion of the filling or the closed type heat exchanging unit in the central area of the rectangular-shaped casing, the cooling water does not reach the corner portions of the rectangular cooling body, whereby no water is supplied to the portion of the filling or the heat exchanging unit at the corner portions.

ROUND SHAPE COOLING TOWER:

Round shaped or popularly known as bottle type are used by all Industries to cool their re-cycled process water, flow from 10M3/Hr. to 500 M3/Hr.
